The Regional Meeting on Food Sovereignty and Agroecology Exchange was held in Surin Province, Thailand from March 24th to March 30th, 2023. The event was organized by Focus on The Global South with the primary objective of addressing the challenges faced by small-scale food providers, compiling their strategies, and promoting the exchange of insights and practices regarding emerging alternative approaches. TOA took part in learning about the food sovereignty movement and had the opportunity to connect with a network of community organizations from India, Nepal, and Thailand.

Attendees shared their expertise, methodologies, and lessons learned to enhance comprehension of food sovereignty as both a concept and a movement. Additionally, the gathering aimed to lay the groundwork for future advocacy efforts, particularly in engaging governmental bodies to safeguard the right to food, opposing systems that jeopardize local food networks, upholding the rights and dignity of small-scale food providers, and advocating for sustainable community-driven solutions.
