“Community Design for Food Citizenship”
6-7 September 2019, Room 701, Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building, Chulalongkorn University
The free market is efficient in production and allocation, but not in equitable distribution. Food is cheap because of hidden externalities such as the cost of environmental degradation and public health services needed to offset the impact of the industrial approach to food and farming. Therefore, Mindful Markets work to develop functioning alternative models and practices.
Mindful Markets are alternative approaches for shaping food systems based on full awareness of interconnected factors and driven by the principle of “Organic Food for All.” Mindful Markets focus on long-term relationships between farmers and consumers provide access to healthy food and promote wellbeing for stakeholders.
Mindful Markets Asia Forum is a regional platform for the best practices and inspiring models of producers, as well as consumers network or body, for organic agricultural movements. In order to develop strong markets for locally grown organic products, consumers need to understand how the system works and a mutual learning process between producers and consumers needs to be set up. Alternative marketing approaches such as community-supported agriculture (CSA), Participatory Guarantee System (PGS), direct farmers’ markets and cooperatives, can narrow the gap between farmers and consumers and at the same time improve farmers’ quality of life.

Fee: 50 USD for activities during the forum on both days (Cost weaving is possible, please contact the organizer)
