1-8 September 2024, Cambodia
The small initiative “Spreading Local Seeds: Connecting to the Organic Young Farmer and Social Entrepreneur Network and Climate Change Adaptation in the Mekong Sub-region,” held from September 1st to 8th, 2024, brought together Thai young farmers to connect with their Cambodian counterparts and social entrepreneurs focused on sustainable agriculture and seed saving. In Battambang, the young Thai farmers visited farms, learned about local practices, and participated in seed-saving and food systems workshops. They noticed a growing interest in ecological farming and the development of a network of young farmers advocating for sustainable agriculture. In Siem Reap, they engaged with a farmer group supported by Agrisud and learned about market access initiatives. Participants gained valuable insights and strongly desired to share their knowledge, launch their ventures, and collaborate to build more resilient food systems within the Mekong sub-region.
